Matthew Shelton

Research interests: Ancient philosophy, Latin & Greek poetry

Matthew completed his undergraduate and master's degrees at UCT and his PhD at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. His most recent research is on madness in ancient Socratic philosophy, and he is broadly interested in ancient literature, psychology and thought. He also works on intellectual and inter-cultural identity politics in the ancient world, and on the reception of Classics in South Africa.
